Safety Check Engineering Ltd (SCE) undertook the thorough examination, witnessing of load testing, commissioning and further thorough examination and issued the ROTE (Report of Thorough Examination) of the first Launching Girder that has been in the UK for a considerable period of time. This is being operated by Align JV and its subcontractors, to construct the Colne Valley Viaduct as part of HS2 Phase One . The contract has been in the pipeline for the last calendar year and we received all the relevant documents prior to the thorough examination so RAMS and Scopes of Examination could be produced. We supplied 2x Senior Engineers and 4x Engineer Surveyors working in a team with the aid of 2x MEWP’s supplied by Align JV during the thorough examinations. Communication has been excellent throughout and working alongside the installers, operators and lifting team has meant exclusion zones and isolation of power supply was in place when examining the trusses, transverse beams and during load testing. SCE will re-attend at suitable intervals throughout the in-service utilisation timeline to carry out periodic thorough examinations, as and when they fall due.
